Chris Powell

Christopher Powell, a registered member of the Peepeekisis Tribe of Saskatchewan, gained an interest in sculpting from the encouragement of two uncles who were sculptors themselves. Following high school, Chris apprenticed at a bronze sculpture studio in Denver. He advanced from apprentice to foundry manager and has been working on sculptures for 15 years. In 2000, Chris was commissioned by the Colorado Avalanche NHL team to create a bust of famed goaltender, Patrick Roy. Chris has honed his body of work that emphasizes tribal themes as well as wildlife. His sculptures are known for their polished surfaces and rare patination processes.
