Jake on Bass Fetches SculptureWalk’s 2020 People’s Choice

The 2020 SculptureWalk People’s Choice award goes to “Jake on Bass”created by Hartford, SD artist Scott Schlag.

The People’s Choice award is voted by visitors as their favorite sculpture and then purchased by the City of Sioux Falls to become a part of the city’s permanent collection of sculptures.  “Jake” is the 17th sculpture to join the collection.

"I am very honored to be chosen for the People's Choice Award from among so many great artistic sculptures in SculptureWalk 2020. This year has certainly been difficult and challenging for most people, I hope my buddy Jake gave people some smiles and put joy in their hearts."

"Jake was my hunting buddy and constant companion, following me everywhere on our acreage.  I could get him to do almost anything and often took pictures of him in comical poses. I feel the sculpture Jake On Bass epitomizes this aspect of his character. He was always there to welcome me home at the end of day. I can think of no better example of God's unconditional love than the love a dog gives us".  You can learn more about the artist here.

“The People’s Choice is special for so many reasons said SculptureWalk Director, Jim Clark. “From seeing the enjoyment the sculptures bring to downtown visitors, rewarding artists for their work and talents, helping to improve the downtown economy and adding permanent sculptures to the City’s collection.”
